My Husband....
Was the most wonderful man,
and we loved each other soooo much.
He was the kindest, most generous man you could ever wish to meet. He would give away his last penny, along with his last minute of time.
He spoilt me rotten, and showered me with love, affection and happiness.
He was certainly larger that life, and lit up any room he happened to walk into. He has a real sense of fun and mischeif, and always had a twinkle in his eye. (and a doughnut hidden in the other)
I love that man so much -
Our Dad.....
Our Dad was born in Tabua, Portugal, on 12th April 1967. He was born premature, at 6 and a half months instead of the usual nine. He weighed just 2 pounds. He was put in a cot with hot water bottles, and thankfully the weather was warm too, the doctors did not think he was going to survive. He grew slowly, and became stronger, and eventually went home with his Mum and Dad.
When he was a bit older he went to live with his Grandma for a short while, as His parents came to work in England. He joined them when he was 6 years old, and came to live in nearby Kingston.
He went to school at St. Agatha’s, St. Joseph’s and Rivermead Boys School. He went on to college, then technical college. He had many, many friends, and was keen on his local youth club.
He met Mum through friends in Kingston, and they were really happy together. We were all at the wedding as Mum and Dad didn’t get married straight away. Most of us remember it, and we have a lovely video at home to remind us of the day.
Dad was always taking things apart and fixing them, and especially loved cars and bikes and campers. The biggest one we had was a converted coach, which we drove all the way to Liverpool at 40 miles an hour! It was his pride and joy and came complete with a leopard skin dashboard, and leaded light windows. We’ve had so many cars we can‘t count, - including a convertible beetle, with a body kit on, a Proton with no 3rd gear, and an allegro - hand painted black, with silver bats and stars! (we called it the bat mobile) a Citroen 2CV, he called his “Plum and Custard tart.” Dad even drove all the way from John O’ Groats to Lands End in a bright red kit car with his friend Martin to raise money for the National Children’s Home. We have had plenty of sensible cars too of course.
Dad had favourite names for us all, Nik the Pic, Splodge, Bean and his little princess. We had names for him too, Gino and Kyle called him Fashar Sophie called him Pomps and I called him Daddy Doodle! He really loved children, and playing with us all. We have a great photo of him playing “Mrs Nesbit” with Sophie - and he adored Ruby too.
Dad had an amazing sense of fun, and he used to love being silly, and making us all happy. He dressed up for us, made up silly answer phone messages, and even posed and danced for us on camera. His most famous trick was to belly surf on a tin tray down the stairs.
Sometimes he got some of his words wrong, he would say daft things like Satchet - instead of Sachet, and Chis - wick instead of Chiswick, and his favourite Ren des vos instead of rendezvous. He would do and say anything to please us, he just loved to see us smile.
Dad was always there for us, he gave the best hugs that you can imagine, he loved us all so much. He was always cheerful and happy, and always wanting to help and please others. We are very proud of our Dad. We love him so much. We have all promised to try our very hardest to make him proud of us - he was a wonderful man.
- Dad was funny, and hugely hearted. His spare time spent up before it arrived, doing odd jobs for neighbours friends and family alike. I can’t remember the last time he did something for himself, he was a big family man, and had a very demanding one! From kitchens to cars, and gardens to lights, he could always be found getting stuck into something, and asking that dreaded question - was that the kettle I heard?
His warm smile and gentle touch will be greatly missed by everyone privileged enough to have met him. We will love you forever dad. See you in the stars.
We all have so many memories that we will hold dear forever, you will always live onthrough us all. From the loving memories to the silly funny memories. Everyday will bring back those memories, and we thank you for giving them to us. You were so special, and meant so much to us all. Thankyou for giving us all that you did, as you gave all that you could for us all. We will go on living for you, trying to fulfil your dreams of us, and to make you proud as we are of you. Love you Dad, and hope to see you soon.
